RapidILL
 
RapidILL Express Document Delivery Service is an organization of libraries mainly from the universities in the United States dedicated to fast and cost-effective resource sharing. Developed by the Morgan Library of the Colorado State University, RapidILL now has over 200 members including libraries from Canada, Hong Kong and Taiwan. The Office of Library and Information Services is now a member of the RapidILL community. Requests sent through RapidILL will be filled mostly 3 days on average. The actual time varies depending on each library’s working schedule.

Application Procedures & Notes
 
1. Check our online library catalog and Hyint E-Resources first to ensure that the required materials are not available at ISU libraries.
2. Log in to the RapidILL requesting system and send your request online. Please log in with your library ID Number and Password. You can pick up your request at the 
Main Library or Medical Campus Library.
3. Please fill in the journal title in its full name no abbreviations, corresponding ISSN and all the required fields in the request form and submit the application online. Your request will then be forwarded to the RapidILL.
4. Library will notify you via email when your request arrives in the library, and it will be kept in the location you selected (Main Library or Medical Campus Library) for you to pick up.

Charges
 
1. Requests filled by RapidILL will be charged NT$3 per page.
2. Adopted on September 30, 2019, at the first meeting of the Committee of Library and Information Services of the academic year 2019, the promotion period is from January 1, 2020. It would be free if the number of applications falls within the quota per person each year. You will be charged 2 dollars per page if the number of applications is over the quota.

NDDS
 
Nationwide Document Delivery Service (NDDS) is an online fee-based resource sharing system which provides interlibrary loan and photocopy services to all participating libraries in Taiwan. Through Union List of Serials and other catalogs, users are able to search in databases for journals, conference proceedings, dissertations and book holdings in over 400 participating libraries and request online for a photocopy of articles and book loans.

Application Procedures & Notes
 
1. Check our online library catalog and Hyint E-Resources first to ensure that the required materials are not available at ISU libraries.
2. Registration is required for first-time users. You will be notified via email for the approval to log in to the system within 2 business days.
3. Check the Union Catalogs or other libraries catalogs and select the library which holds the required item. Fill in the request form and send it online.
4. Library will notify you via email when your request arrives in the library, and it will be kept in the location you belong (Main Library or Medical Campus Library) for you to pick up.

6. Books should be returned to the Reference Service Desk during office hours. Do not return to the book drop.

Southern Library Resource Sharing Service

I. Target: ISU staff, teachers and students

II. Regulations: Search via the agent service for borrowing and return to know whether or not that library has the book that you need and submit the application (wait for the account activation if never used before). The library will inform using E-mail then readers can borrow with student ID or valid certification at the service counter on the second floor.

III. Borrowing limits: One can borrow at most six books, 28 days per book. Not allow to renew.

VII. Charging method: The expenses are provided by the union, there will be no shipping cost charged during the promotion period. Notice will be announced if needed to be charged. You are encourage to borrow during the promoting period.

VIII. Book Resource Sharing Service Platform for the Southern District of the Ministry of Education

Clients: staff and students of the school.

Service methods: To facilitate readers' use of inter-library cooperation services, make full use of collection resources, and share more than 9 million volumes of cooperative schools.

How to use: Apply for a virtual library card in advance on the system. The certificate is valid for three days. Within the validity period, you can borrow and return the book directly to the partner school with your own card and virtual library card. You can borrow 5 books regardless of the school. The loan period is 14 days from the date of book borrowed. After the books borrowed and the deferred payment in the previous virtual library card have been paid, you can apply for the next virtual library card. The library regulations are predominant.

1. Staff, faculty, and students can borrow an interlibrary loan card with their student ID card/staff (faculty) ID badge.

2. The loan period of a library card issued by other schools is subject to the regulations of the school. If a cardholder fails to return the library card, he/she has to pay a NT$5-dollar fine per day.

3. Do not return the interlibrary loan card to the Circulation Desk of the Library before returning the books you borrowed to prevent the card from being reused by someone else.

4. In case of the loss of the library card, the cardholder should report the loss to the Circulation Desk of the Library.

5. Readers have to return the books they borrowed on their own. If readers lost the books they borrowed, they should be subject to the regulations for compensating lost and damaged books made by each school.
